Adjusting Circles on Round Objects

If you are engraving round objects, this is a really useful tool. The excel file is in the files section of The Laser Lounge on facebook. I want my logo to look round and not oval. How much should I stretch it? Hmmm, the excel file does the work for you. Zoom into pic and look at red boxes. Thank you Chris Myers for making this.

If you have had round graphics look like ovals on your tumblers you can use this to get around the “optical illusion”.

Thank you Chris Myers for making this file.

Tumbler Circle projection – handy calculation file to compensate for the optical illusion of engraving a circle on a cylindrical object such as a tumbler. I am engraving these today and thought I would show you a real application of it.

If you engrave it as a circle it will look oval. So, you must compensate for the width of the image.

How to use the file:

Enter in the diameter of your cup, the width of the circle / graphic.

It calculates the arc distance, the last line is what you should change the width of the circle to.

So your artwork is stretched width-wise but appears as a circle.

2 inputs 2 out puts, you only really care about the last line.
